Waipa Racecourse, Te Awamutu

In the heart of the Waikato, Te Awamutu is home to Waipa Racing Club and is also home to over 200 horses who use the facilities daily for training including grass and sand tracks, swimming pool etc. Some of the bigger trainers based there are Graeme & Debbie Sanders, Robert Priscott, Richard & Chris Otto, and Keith & Brendon Hawtin. Te Awamutu is a prospering farming town, with a population of 14,000, 15-20 minutes to Hamilton Airport and an extra 5 minutes to Hamilton City Centre and just over an hour from the heart of the Bay of Plenty beaches.

Track Details: A 1650m right handed track with a 300 m straight. This is a very turning track so horses do need to draw and start well.

Directions: As you enter Te Awamutu from Hamilton (north) take the first road on the right at the bottom of the hill (Racecourse Road), then approximately 100 metres on the right is the entrance to the Waipa Racing Club.

If you are coming from Cambridge simply turn right at the roundabout (road to Hamilton) and then Racecourse Road is approximately 500m on your left (before you start to go up the hill out of Te Awamutu).
